After visiting the island of Sicily, I researched the figure of the Gorgon/Medusa. The small towns of that beautiful island were plagued with ceramic sculptures of beautiful women with snakes on their heads. I wondered what the Gorgon would look like if she had a sister in Mallorca. She has moray eels on her head instead of snakes, and her crown is decorated with coral and shells. The severed head floats in front of a mound of Poseidonea, the algae that protect the seabed. Mallorca's most precious treasure.
