smells of human flesh

In the Mallorcan Rondalles of Monsignor Antoni M. Alcover, giants appear repeatedly. They are, needless to say, excessive, brutal and arbitrary characters. They live in forests or mountains, and their only desire is to find human creatures (women, men or children) to momentarily satisfy their eternal hunger. When this happens, the giants celebrate the find with scrolls: "Smell human flesh, we'll eat it this week! Smell human flesh, we'll eat it if the devil doesn't deceive us!"
